Vegan holds a PhD in Biology. Throughout her research career she worked with the Leopold Franz University of Innsbruck, the National University of Ireland Galway, the University of Throndheim, the University of Cardiff, the University of Salamanca and the University of the Basque Country. In 2011, she founded the NorArte Studio and is the coordinator of the University of the Basque Country’s postgraduate programme in Scientific Illustration.
Izaskun Alberdi • Scientific illustrator & designer
Izaskun holds a BSc in Biology from the University of the Basque Country and completed postgraduate specialist studies in Biodiversity and Conservation Biology at the Pablo de Olavide University (Seville, Spain) and Scientific Illustration at the University of the Basque Country. Professionally, she has worked in several areas related to biology, including as a guide in the Basque Coast Geopark of and as a research technician.
Ana Madinabeitia • Scientific illustrator & designer
Ana holds a BA in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country, specialising in Scientific Illustration. After beginning a degree course in Biology, she decided to switch to Fine Arts. She is currently extending her skills and knowledge in a master’s course in Web and Graphic Design.
Çinta Altes • PhD in Biology, Scientific Translator & Yoga Teacher
More than 10 years as Technical Manager at the Basque Association of Biologist (Colegio Oficial de Biologos de Euskadi, COBE). Over 20 years’ experience as a teacher (English, German and yoga) and scientific translator. Çinta is the coordinator of the course Efficient presentations and teaches the modules on Managing Nerves, Relaxation and Non-Verbal and Para-Verbal Language.
David J. Fogarty • PhD in Neuroscience & Academic Secretary of UPV/EHU Press
Managing Editor of “The International Journal of Developmental Biology” (Int. J. Dev. Biol.). Collaborates with the COBE and participates in MSc courses teaching modules on publishing the results of scientific research internationally. With over 30 years’ experience as a teacher and translator, Tim’s field of expertise extends to a wide range of academic, scientific and artistic areas. In the course Efficient presentations helps participants improve their English pronunciation and intonation.
Mark Parsonage • Teacher and Scientific translator BSc, RS Biology
Graduate in Science, BSc (Hons.) from the University of Wales, and qualified teacher, PGCE, recognised by the Department of Education (United Kingdom) who has been working in San Sebastian for many years as an English teacher and registered CIOL translator – specialising in scientific and technical subjects. Mark takes part in the course Efficient presentations helping participants improving their English pronunciation and intonation.
